Court Orders FG To Pay N1B To Nnamdi Kanu For Illegal Arrest

Justice Benson Anya of the Abia State High Court has ruled that the infiltration of security agents to the home of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, in 2017 was unlawful and an infringement on his human rights. On Wednesday, the judge determined that his kidnapping and forced return to Nigeria were "illegal" under both local and international law. Anya further ordered the Nigerian government to compensate Kanu for the infringement of his fundamental human rights with an amount of N1 billion.

President Muhammadu Buhari plans to display a million bags of rice grain arranged as pyramids in Abuja, Nigeria's capital. The pyramids, which are said to be Africa's largest of their kind, are located on the premises of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) on Airport Road. Salima Mukansanga To Become The First Woman To Referee An AFCON Match

Salima Rhadia Mukansanga will today make history when she referees the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) match between Zimbabwe and Guinea. The Rwandan-born referee will be the first woman to referee an AFCON match. The 35-year-old is part of an all-female lineup for the encounter at Yaounde's Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium.  They will also be the first all-female team to compete in the event since its establishment. Carine Atemzabong (Cameroon), Fatiha Jermoumi (Morocco), and VAR referee Bouchra Karboubi will help Mukansanga (Morocco). Mukansanga had already made history by becoming the first woman to referee a game at the continental showcase when she served as the fourth official in a match between Guinea and Malawi at Bafoussam.
