Thousands of people flocked to the palace of Alhaji Hassan Attahiru, the Emir of Bungudu in Zamfara State, on Tuesday to welcome him back.

According to Punch Newspapers, after being kidnapped by bandits, the emir stayed away from his palace for 38 days.

After spending 32 days in captivity, he was released last week and traveled to Abuja for medical treatment.

He was finally welcomed back to the palace by a big assembly of people who greeted him warmly.

The emir said, “I lack the word to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to all of you who are here today to welcome me.”

Alhaji Muhammad Usman, the Emir of Bukkuyum in the state’s Bukkuyum Local Government Area, congratulated the emir earlier.

He said, “It is a terrible thing to be in a bandits’ den. I knew the situation because I went through it; although, I spent only four days in captivity.”
