A victim of Thursday’s robbery incident at Idi-Ape area of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, Mr. Mubarak Olanrewaju Sulaiman, has been buried.

According to reports gathered today, the deceased was buried on Thursday night at a Muslim cemetery in Akinyele, Ibadan.

It was reported that Sulaiman was on his way back from picking up his son from Ikire in Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State when the unfortunate incident occurred.

The two-year-old son who was with his father in the car luckily escaped without injuries.

Governor Seyi Makinde sympathised with the victims of the attack and assured the public that the police were investigating the issue via a tweet yesterday.

Commissioner of Police in the state, Ngozi Onadeko, while speaking to newsmen said that two policemen had been killed during the robbery.

Yesterday, about seven armed robbers attacked a bullion van around the Idi Ape area of Ibadan, Oyo State capital, killing two police officers and others, alongside a child who was hit by a stray bullet.

The bullion van was reportedly from Iwo Road Area when it was attacked by the robbers around Testing Ground, close to the Agodi Police Area Command.

An eyewitness said the robbers disguised themselves in police uniform and shot sporadically into the air as they tried to force the bullion van open with their guns. It was reported that they carted away an unspecified amount of money.

Onadeko also stated that the officers killed one of the robbers but the corpse was taken away by the robbery gang.
