The Covenant University, Sango, Ota, Ogun State, is set to hold its 16th convocation ceremony. The ceremony is scheduled to hold alongside its 19th Founder’s Day from Thursday, October 21 through Sunday, October 24, 2021.

A This Day report indicated that the Registrar the University, Dr. Oluwasegun Omidiora, said that both events were carefully tailored to celebrate the giant strides and accomplishments of the young university in the past 19 years and at the same time, herald the release of a new set of leaders into the nation, continent and the world at large.

Omidiora said: “The Founder’s Day will feature a special university assembly, where exploits and notable feats of the university will be reeled out, and outstanding members of faculty and staff celebrated. The forum will also serve to offer gratitude to God for the present state of the university and for what is expected in the years to come.

“Whereas, the 16th convocation ceremony will begin on Thursday with hooding lectures across the four colleges and the School of Postgraduate Studies of the university, the Founder’s Day celebration will commence with a special assembly to offer thanksgiving to God. These lectures will cover various revolutionary aspects of higher learning such as blended learning, entrepreneurship in the digital age, new media interventions, etc.

“This will culminate in the release of ‘Eagles 2021,’ for the award of first and higher degrees and presentation of prizes, which will take place on Friday, October 22, 2021, at the University Chapel.”

According to the report, other activities lined up in view of marking the occasion include a Special Chancellor’s Assembly/Release of Eagles ceremony for the graduands, slated for Saturday, October 23, while the alumni investiture/presentation of special awards and prizes would take place afterwards.

“The management of the university appreciates the support Covenant University has enjoyed from the parents and guardians of the students all through the last academic session as well as the goodwill the institution has enjoyed from the National Universities Commission (NUC), professional bodies and partner institutions both within and outside the country.

“Covenant University is looking forward with renewed assurance of continually setting the pace and blazing the trail in repositioning the dignity of the black race, through a robust teaching and learning environment that will signpost the nation’s educational map on the global front,” Omidiora said.
