Akan Udofia wins APC primaries in Akwa Ibom State

Obong Akanimo Udofia, on the early hours of Friday, was declared the winner of the All Progressive Congress primaries held on Thursday.

Udofia, who defected to APC about two weeks after leaving the PDP, defeated the likes of long time party man, John James Akpanudoedehe, and Mr Ita Enang.

Announcing the result, the Chairman of the Election Committee, Omoba Tunde Ajibulu, said Udofia polled 1,227 votes to defeat prominent politicians such as Senator Ita Enang, who had 34 votes, and Senator John Akpanudoedehe, who polled 2 votes.

The businessman and philanthropist was declared winner. with the highest number of votes cast.

Breakdown of the final result:

Obong Akan Udofia – 1, 227

Senator Ita Enang – 34

Senator John James Akpanudoedehe – 2

Uduak Udo – 7
