The oldest Local Government in Nigeria, Ikot Ekpene, on Wednesday witnessed one of its notable events at the Ikot Ekpene Stadium. Dignitaries were drawn from all works of life in the country to witness the declaration of interest to run for the office of the President by Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio.

The former Governor of Akwa Ibom State took his supporters from the National cadre to converge in his Senatorial District to announce his interest in running for the 2023 election as President.

Some banners showed support from the opposition party which marvelled everyone at the venue. The People’s Democratic Party, Akwa Ibom State chapter, declared support for the All Progressive Congress man, despite having their own candidate.

The social media space took their own share of announcing the event, and almost all Akwa Ibomites showed support for the former Senator.

Akpabio has been an inspiration to many during his time as the Governor of Akwa Ibom, while transforming the state.

During his tenure, Akpabio built three fly overs, an International Stadium, an International Airport, and many other life-touching projects.

His declaration has made many think it’s a campaign rally as the Ikot Ekpene Stadium was filled in anticipation of his victory to bear the flag of his Party, the All Progressive Congress (APC).
