The Senate passed a bill on Tuesday that aims to expand the number of law school campuses across the country.

The bill was passed when the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, and Legal Matters adopted a report.

Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, the Chairman of the Committee, said the bill wants seven additional law school campuses in Kabba, Kogi State, Jos, Plateau State, and Maiduguri, Borno State, when presenting the findings at Tuesday’s plenary session.

Ilawe, Ekiti State, Okija, Anambra State, Orogun, Delta State, and Arugungu, Kebbi State are among the others.

Senator Bamidele stated that, given the exponential increase in the number of law graduates from Nigerian and foreign colleges, as well as the years-long backlog, this legislative intervention is not necessary.
