Former World number one Rafael Nadal has qualified for his 14th Australian Open quarter-final after defeating Adrian Mannarino on straight sets.

Nadal won the first set on a tie break but took time to explore the Frenchman in the remaining two sets.

The 35-year old Nadal won 7(16) – 6(14), 6 – 2, 6 – 2 to complete the three-sets battle.

The Spain star will now compete in his 14the Australian Open quarter-final against Canadian 22-year old Denis Shapovalov who has just defeated Alexander Zverev on straight sets 6-3, 7(7) – 6(5), 6-3.
