A gas explosion in Ladipo, Mushin Local Government Area, Lagos State, has claimed the lives of at least five people.

The explosion occurred on Tuesday morning inside the famed Ladipo Spare Parts Market’s Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) household retail centre on Ojekunle Street.

The incident was confirmed by Ibrahim Farinloye, a spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), to Channels Television.

According to him, four individuals’ bodies have so far been found from the blast site. They were made up of three guys and a woman known only as Mama Funmi.

While a 10-year-old child was rescued and transported to the hospital, he died before arriving.

Farinloye reported that the fire had been extinguished at the location, and that emergency personnel were working to rescue more bodies.

Personnel from NEMA, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Lagos State Fire Service, and the police are among those present.
