The African Cup of Nations kicked off on Sunday with a match between hosts Cameroon and West African rival Burkina Faso at the Olembe Stadium in Yaoundé. The Indomitable Lions were victorious in the match.
In the other group match, Cape Verde defeated Ethiopia’s 10-man squad.

The opening ceremony, which took place before the two games, was an occasion for the host country to greet the participating nations and their spectators.
Cameroon demonstrated its traditional culture to visitors all over the world during the opening ceremony, which included various colorful exhibits.
Political leaders and officials from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) spoke at the opening ceremony.
A performance by the two musicians invited for the occasion, however, kicked off the showcase.
Fally Ipupa, a Congolese artist, and Kwame Ametepee Tsikata, better known as M.anifest, a Ghanaian rapper, singer, and composer, wowed the audience with their performances.
The atmosphere was electrifying and vibrant, making for a memorable opening ceremony.
