Manchester United had a goal upheld after a vigorous check by the Video Assistant referee.

Edinson Cavani appeared to be in an offside position during Man United’s 1-0 home win over West Ham United at the Old Trafford stadium on Saturday.

United scored a good team goal after Brazilian left-back Alex Telles started the move at the stroke of added time.

The defender sent forward a long ball down the left channel attempting to find Cavani.

But was intercepted by a West Ham defender as the ball found its way to the feet of Cristiano Ronaldo who was in the middle of the park.

The Portuguese superstar drove forward before releasing substitute Anthony Martial as the France star delivered a short pass to Cavani who appeared to be in an offside position.

Cavani’s left-hand bent past West Ham’s last man but the goal was upheld by 51-hear old referee Jonathan Moss.

“This season’s rules, if a part of the body that you cannot use to score is the only part beyond the defender, it’s not offside.”

This gave United the much-needed opportunity to score the goal that took them into the top four for the first time since October last hear.

Marcus Rashford scored from close range after Cavani had released him from the near side.

Man United are now fourth on the log on 38 points after playing 2 games.
