A group of persons on Wednesday staged a protest and halted work at Government Hospital, Ukpom, Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
The persons are said to be workers of the hospital who protested on the non-payment of their entitlements.
According to a source who spoke with livefromnaija on the condition of anonymity explained that their salaries were stopped unnoticed.
“We are workers of this hospital. We work in the security unit and we have not been paid our monthly salaries for 18 months now so we decided to embark on this protest to let them our grievances “he said.
He also disclosed that their salaries are the sole responsibility of the management of the hospital.
Work has been ceased at the moment at the hospital as a traditional injunction of palm fronts (eyei) are used to block the gate of the hospital.
