Supporters of the Nigerian National team have been divided over the recent rumors about the President of the Nigeria Football Association (NFF) Mr Amaju Pinnick ensuring the return of Odion Ighalo to the team.

Some sections have applauded the NFF boss on his advances to ensure that quality is assured in the team.

But a greater faction were bitter about the backward movement of the Nigerian football body in the direction of moving the team to a greater height.

Ighalo announced his retirement from the Nigeria National team in 2019 but was recalled by ex-Eagles boss Gernot Rohr in 2021.

The forward was blocked by his club Al Shabab from playing in the just concluded AFCON in Cameroon.

Fans took to Twitter to blast the NFF boss on his decision in this direction.

Oluakins wrote “@thenff tell Pinnick that Ighalo is surplus to requirements.
In the current @NGSuperEagles we have more than enough better strikers that can do the job. More so now that Lookman is available to play for Nigeria.
Leave Ighalo alone to face his club commitments. Thank you.”

“This man, Pinnick too dey pass his boundaries.
Ighalo playing for Nigeria at this age… Which future are we building in this Nation.
Boya Yobo and Enyeama should return to the team.” Jide Oluwalana added.
