Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has left fans buzzing after making significant changes to his Instagram page. The Grammy-nominated artist surprised many by unfollowing everyone on the platform, including his YBNL boss, Olamide, and removing traces of the record label from his bio.

A recent check on Asake’s Instagram revealed that his bio no longer identifies him as a YBNL artist. Instead, it now reads “creative director,” fueling speculation about his relationship with the label.

Adding to the intrigue, Asake was notably absent at the Flytime Festival 2024 on Tuesday, where Olamide headlined the event. The show turned into a YBNL reunion, featuring performances from former signees like Chinko Ekun, Young John, and Viktoh alongside Olamide. Tiwa Savage and Phyno also took the stage, delivering electrifying performances.

Fans React to Asake’s Bold Move

Asake’s recent actions have sparked a flurry of reactions on social media, with fans speculating about the reason behind the changes.

One user, @47kasz, kept it brief, writing, “Hmm 🤔., Maybe him year don complete.”

Another @AmGoodSin, hinted at industry challenges, commenting, “Nah why person no dey help person again be this.”

@lesh_szajna expressed belief in Asake’s independence, stating, “He big pass YBNL and Olamide.”

On the other hand, @8Planets_ suggested a structural issue, writing, “Maybe Olamide should just stop giving them two-year contracts. This affects Lil Kesh so much.”

Not everyone was optimistic, though. @Maxajee doubted Asake’s prospects outside YBNL, predicting, “Asake will be like any other regular artiste the moment he leaves YBNL.”

Meanwhile, @Graph_Art_Lawd implied Asake might be overestimating his readiness to go solo, saying, “Asake don dey hear sey im big, e wan fly solo… okay nah.”

While fans speculate on the reasons behind these bold moves, one thing is clear: Asake’s decision has sparked conversations about loyalty, growth, and the dynamics of the Nigerian music industry. Whether this marks the start of a new chapter for the Lonely at the Top crooner or simply a temporary phase, all eyes are now on him for what comes next.
