Rwandan referee Salima Mukansanga has recorded two historic moments in the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
The 34-year old became the first woman to Officiate an AFCON match when she was named as the fourth official on January 10, 2022 as Malawi played against Guinea.
Mukansanga on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 again became the first woman to be a centre referee in an AFCON match since the inception of the tournament.
She took charge and foresaw as Zimbabwe defeated Guinea thanks to a 2-1 scoreline.
The experienced Rwandan has also make an appearance as a match official in the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2019 in France.
The African Cup of Nations continues and Mukansanga can also make another history by becoming the first woman to take charge in an AFCON knockout stage match.
